As season 2 is coming to an end, we have to also begin thinking of new rules that should be applied in the next season, season 3. We learned somethings from the rules we implemented before, so here is a chance to fix any rules or implement new rules. Here are a few note worthy ones rules or rules I want to suggest, and would love feedback on.
Rule Reminders/Updates
1. Signature
Signature Rules
1. You must have the current year's draft picks and next year's draft picks of your team(s) in your signature.
2. You can ask the simmer for the draft picks you currently possess. You must keep your draft picks up to date with your trades.
3. You can not make fun of/abuse other members with your signature.
This has been in the rules since day 1. Please follow this. Master draft pick chart has been updated.
2. Roster limit
Contract Limit Rule
1. You can only have 50 players signed max. That's 23 players max during regular season in NHL so thats 27 max down in AHL or u can have 21 NHL and 29 down in AHL.
2. You can trade contracted players to make room.
3. Rights to ELC's end at 27
4. The Players who have already been resigned when the file started... DO NOT count towards the 50 players.. Because if u look at for example on Vancouver there's Gauce who is signed for 4 yrs when elc is 3 yrs so the players who are signed already in the file that are younger then 20 and sent back to jrs are not counted towards the 50 contracted players
So if a player is signed from now on and sent back who wasnt already signed then they count towards your 50 signed players.
This makes ir harder for when it comes to signing players and ice time for players in NHL
Just want to remind everyone about this rule.
3. UFA v. RFA
Free Agency
A player is a UFA when- He is 26 years or older
A player is a RFA when- He is 25 or younger.
Just so you all remember
4. RFA compensation
RFA
When offering on RFA's remember these key facts.
-The team who owns the player's rights have the right to match any offersheet.
-If they don't match the offersheet then said player officially becomes a member of your team and can not be traded until the next season.
RFA compensation:
1Mil - Less - No Comp
1Mil - 1.5 - 3rd
1.5Mil - 3Mil - 2nd
3Mil - 4.5Mil - 1st & 3rd
4.5Mil - 6Mil - 1st, 2nd & 3rd
6Mil - 8Mil - 2; 1sts, 2nd, 3rd
8Mil+ - 4; 1sts
So you are not surprised when you don't have a pick
5. Contract rules
4. Max # of years, resigning is 9 and ufa is 8, max amount of money u can offer is 9 mill no NHL player makes over 9 mill without bonuses... and Min amount u can sign a player for is 500k
Just in case you all were wondering
6. New "Wavier to Release" rule
5. With the waiver to release waiver method, if you waive a player who is making above 2.5m, then the cap penalty will be his salary divided by the number of years he has left across each of the years left on his contract. For example, Martin Ruzicka makes 2.1m. If I want to waiver to release him, then I will save 900k, and not have to worry about his cap counting against me for more than one year. However, if I waived Logan Couture who makes 6m for 5 years, I would have to pay 5.1m for the first year, and then 1.2m for the next 4 years.
Just so everyone knows
Suggestions to implement:
Retention of Salary:
You are allowed to retain up to 75% of the salary of a player who is making more than $1,500,000. If the player has more than 1 year on the deal, then the retention can only apply to the first year. The rest of the years will go back to being full salary counting against the team's cap.
Retirement goals:
If a retiring player meets a certain individual goal, or the team achieves a goal, then the player does not retire until the following season. Goals will unbiasedly be chosen by the Staff according to team performance and player performance.
